Planning.......... and wishing Dovey well

Now Sandra and I do a fair bit of route planning for this trip. You might think this is a serious business of sitting in a large map filled control room with me and Sandra pouring over large scale maps and carefully deciding which road would be the one to take to the next picturesque town, village or campsite.

Well it’s not like that at all. All our planning is done at the local pub, we decide which country we will look at and take the appropriate copy of lonely planet, a small red book and a pencil. I order from the bar a bottle of red wine from the country in question (or nearest to it) then the planning starts.

We drink wine and make notes which is all well and good but what remains is the red book with a bunch of notes that starts off neat and becomes progressively more shoddy as time and wine goes by, This week was Canada…… now as far as I know Canada is not one of the worlds greatest wine producers and asking the landlord for the wine list and complaining bitterly about the lack of commonwealth spirit by not listing one Canadian chardonnay. So we went for Chilean red as it began with the same letter.

So we have two more pages filled out in our little red book of places and roads we will be hoping to visit.

One day we will put it all on a map.

Now “the shed” is coming along nicely, handlebars and rear sub frame on with bits to strengthen the gearbox added. The big news is that the tank is now ready for collection and Rich has sent me the photos to prove it!

looks good I Think

O

Slow but Sure the "Sheds" looking better

More news …. Not so good this time. I had a e mail from a very good friend of mine (another Richard or Dovey to his mates) saying “ I have really done it this time in hospital with a busted leg and arm injury”

Now Dovey had actually broken his leg in May of last year whilst on my stag do. We all did a bit of off road biking and Dovey was unfortunate to have a big off and break his left leg,

This time it was much more serious although Dovey can’t remember any thing of the accident it looks like it was a “head on” with a car which had “yet again” busted his left leg.

Now we are quiet used to visiting Dovey in hospital and it felt like old times when we visited him on Friday. But this is serious and we both wish him a speedy recovery.

Just time to say a few thank you’s

Mike for setting up this web site and having the patients and time to walk me through the complexities of web maintenance and blogging

And to Rich (the one with two good legs) for sorting out the tank.
